Have you had a chance to pick up some of Grandpa’s Oven Pumpkin Cobbler Bread yet from Walmart? They only carry it in the Fall and Winter in our local store. When it’s in stock, I love to make my family a delicious breakfast using it. This recipe could not be easier, yet it brings tons of smiles.
Makes 8 Hearty Pieces of French Toast
Grandpa’s Oven Pumpkin Cobbler Bread (20 ounce loaf) -From Walmart
2/3 cup of half n half or milk
3 large eggs
non stick butter flavored spray
Maple Syrup (We served ours with sugar free syrup)
Slice loaf into 8 even pieces. Whisk together your eggs and half n half or milk. Heat your griddle to 325 – 350 F degrees. Place each slice of bread, one at a time, into your egg and milk mixture, turning to coat. Then cook on griddle, flipping once, until both sides are brown and crispy.
Tip 1– If serving scrambled eggs too, whisk your eggs for scrambling in the same bowl used to make french toast, there is no need to rinse it out.
Tip 2-Wrap any leftover french toast individually in plastic wrap, and store in freezer. Microwave for about 45 seconds for a quick breakfast later in the week.
Tip 3-Cut a few calories and fat by using sugar free syrup, egg substitute, and fat free milk in recipe above.
We enjoyed our french toast with scrambled eggs and bacon. Well this breakfast sure made us excited for Fall. I hope you will enjoy it too.
